Dr. Achilles G. Adamantiades is the Director of the Rooks County, Kansas, Wind Project, now under development by ICG Aeolian Energy and is exploring possibilities for new wind projects in the U.S. He has worked with Infrastructure Capital Group, almost since its inception in 1996, on various power projects including the 470-MW gas-turbine, combined-cycle power project in the Province of Sind, Pakistan, and water treatment projects in the United Arab Emirates.

Before his retirement from service at the World Bank (1986-1996), he was Principal Power Engineer in the Industry and Energy Dept., with extensive experience in energy matters. In the period 1994-96 he was the World Bank’s lead person in the Solar Initiative, spearheading projects in renewable energy, mostly solar and wind. During this work, he covered extensively energy-sector policy issues, sector reform and restructuring, power generation, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, environmental assessment, project evaluation, and project preparation, appraisal, supervision, and completion. Prior to joining the World Bank he spent ten years with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the major U.S. research and development organization for electric power utilities. He also has operational experience at a lignite thermal power plant.

He is the co-author of three major books, contributor to several specialized publications, over fifty technical papers, numerous World Bank reports, and invited papers at international conferences and meetings. Dr. Adamantiades has an extensive background in academia as an educator and researcher; he has taught at Iowa State University, University of Patras, Greece, Stanford University, California, and George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He is fluent in several languages and has lectured extensively in the US and Europe. He is the recipient of several honorary distinctions.

Dr. Adamantiades holds a Diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece (1957) and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, 1966).
